I got an old dell laptop without a power supply, and found a PA-10 replacement adapter (non-dell) and the laptop won't charge. So the bios reports an "unknown device" for the ac adapter. Why? Dell has a little DRM chip to identify the ac adapter.
Guess I'll have to get the real PA-10 or PA-12...
